Disney World is introducing new trash cans throughout its resort, replacing the iconic flat-topped containers loved by fans. These trash cans have become a beloved feature due to their usability as impromptu tables.
The old trash cans have inspired merchandise and built a nostalgic following over the years. This summer marks the beginning of their replacement across all four theme parks and two water parks.
Back in late 2021, Disney fans, including Skip Sher, gathered for an informal drinking event at Epcot in Orlando, Florida. They selected a trash can as their meeting spot in the theme park’s United Kingdom Pavilion, symbolizing the unique relationship enthusiasts have with these containers. They planned to repeat the gathering and meet at the same location in the future.
