Wynonna Judd recently addressed comments made by Rosie O’Donnell regarding her political beliefs. The country music star expressed surprise upon hearing that O’Donnell had publicly labeled her as a supporter of President Donald Trump.

“I’m in shock, just so you know,” Judd shared with People. “I’ve never spoken to her about politics in my life. She doesn’t know anything about my stuff. I’m an independent.”

Judd clarified that there had been no discussions about politics between her and O’Donnell, calling the claims a “complete assumption.” She stated, “I heard it and I went, ‘What the …?’ I don’t ever remember talking to her about this, so she’s just assuming.” Despite the unexpected news, Judd emphasized that she was not upset, instead describing herself as confused by the statement.

Judd and O’Donnell have shared a long-standing friendship. However, Judd made it clear that she was uninterested in fueling any celebrity political drama. “I just don’t want drama,” she stated. “So, if there’s going to be drama regarding this, I’m like, ‘Oh for crap’s sake, there’s so much going on right now in the world. Can we just love each other?’”

“I kind of give her a grace in a way. She’s had so much in her life, with her mom taking her own life and just the complicated nature of her upbringing. And I really love her, and I care about her. And, for some reason, I’m able to put that aside when we interact.”

O’Donnell made these comments during an appearance on the “The Tangle with Kyle Ridley” podcast, explaining how their friendship had transcended political differences. She described Judd as the one Trump supporter in her life with whom she maintained a friendship, crediting their longstanding bond for allowing politics to take a back seat.

Rosie O’Donnell has been a known critic of Trump and has been vocal about her political opinions over the years. After the 2024 presidential election, she moved to Ireland with her child, continuing her public discourse on American politics from abroad.
