Jimmy Kelly: Oak Forest’s Skilled Playmaker

1 day ago 0

Embracing the Role of Playmaker

Senior midfielder Jimmy Kelly thrives as a playmaker for Oak Forest. Kelly values setting up his teammates with perfect passes, enhancing the Bengals’ chances to score. He is confident in his ability to assist rather than score.

My shots are unpredictable, but I deliver consistent crosses, Kelly said. I’m more of an assister than a scorer. While I’m a good player, I’m not the top scorer. Although I don’t always get the official assists, I often start the plays that lead to goals.

Impact on the Field

Kelly made his mark Tuesday night by assisting a goal from Ulysses Morales, resulting in a 1-1 tie against district rival Bremen. Nate Dunaj secured seven saves for the Bengals, with a record of 10-3-4 overall. Bremen’s Jose Cardoso netted a goal off an assist from Osvaldo Mata.

Bremen coach Huber Saucedo noted, We played okay, but we’ve done better before where we controlled the ball more. In these rivalry games, the kids play hard, and mistakes can be costly.

Bremen struck first within five minutes, but Oak Forest quickly responded. Kelly slipped a pass to Morales, who scored from 15 yards in the 18th minute.

Playing with Jimmy has been fun, Morales said. Having grown up together, our chemistry has been beneficial. I always know where he’s heading.

Key Contributions and Chemistry

It marked Kelly’s seventh assist of the season, a moment he relished immensely.

This assist was special, Kelly commented. Our supporters were loud in celebration; it was pleasant to help Ulysses and energize everyone.

Kelly’s playmaking has been essential for a long time, having been on varsity from sophomore year, where he became a key player.

My coach asked me to take control in sophomore year, said Kelly. From then on, I’ve been a field leader, guiding midfield and offense.

Coach and Team Reactions

Oak Forest coach Alex Alvarez appreciates Kelly’s dedication.

He’s reliable for full games, said Alvarez. His pressure and playmaking bring significant outcomes. Jimmy and Uly have developed great communication, resulting in successes for the team.

Kelly’s journey started young, inspired by older brothers Mickey and Will, both former Bengals players.

As a freshman, I played with my senior brother, Mickey, Kelly reflected. He was our leader, calming the team, and I learned leadership from him.
