Selma Blair is facing legal issues following multiple incidents. She is alleged to have assaulted individuals at a Queens hospital shortly after an in-flight incident on a Delta flight from Los Angeles to New York.
According to a court affidavit from Queens Criminal Court, registered nurse Ashley DeLeo alleges Blair kicked her in the chest while being transferred to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center. This reportedly occurred on October 12 around 2 a.m. ET, causing significant pain to the nurse.
Blair, aged 54, appeared in Queens Criminal Court and responded affirmatively to Judge Indira Kahn. She faces two counts of second-degree assault following her arrest due to allegations of abusive behavior on Delta Flight 938 after it arrived at JFK Airport.
The actress, known for her roles in ‘Cruel Intentions’ and ‘Hellboy,’ was held at JFK and taken for medical evaluation. Officials reported injuries to two flight attendants, with one needing hospital care.
Delta maintains a strict policy against unruly or illegal conduct, always prioritizing the safety of passengers and crew.
While being transported to an ambulance at JFK, Blair allegedly assaulted a Port Authority officer. Officer Maria Suarez claims Blair kicked her repeatedly after freeing her leg from stretcher straps. Suarez sustained a swollen jaw and pain to her face, neck, and chest, requiring hospital treatment.
A Delta statement emphasized their zero-tolerance policy for such actions. The airline prioritizes the safety of its customers and crew above all else.
A representative for Blair stated she had a medical emergency during the flight, which allegedly led to her actions. The representative noted Blair received prompt medical care and is now stable.
Blair’s lawyer argued in court that the incidents were accidental. The situation resulted from missed doses of a critical medication for severe neurological conditions. Lawyer Shawn Barnes argued that fatigue and a fall on the plane contributed to Blair’s confused state.
Publicly, Blair has been transparent about her MS diagnosis since 2018. Following her release on bond, she is expected in court again in January.
Judge Indira Kahn expressed concern over Blair’s risk factor. The case involves additional reporting from Reuters and The Associated Press.
