Ellen DeGeneres Embraces Life in the English Countryside

2 months ago 0

Ellen DeGeneres is embracing a new chapter in her life, having settled into a tranquil farm setting in the English countryside. Over a year ago, the former talk show host and her wife, Portia de Rossi, made the move from California to the U.K., and although they’ve returned to their Montecito community by purchasing a $27 million mansion, it’s likely a temporary stay.

A source who spoke to Fox News Digital explained that Ellen and Portia planned to spend the winter back in Montecito, but are eager to return to the Cotswolds in England. “Ellen and Portia love the Cotswolds and can’t wait to return to England,” the insider revealed.

Since their relocation across the Atlantic, both Ellen and Portia have felt the absence of California’s warm weather and vibrant equestrian scene. According to People magazine, Portia, in particular, has missed polo and her horses.

Local residents in the Cotswolds mentioned that Ellen hasn’t been seen in the area for quite some time. An insider noted that while she was visible around town during the summer, she’s since been absent, and locals treated her like just another celebrity.

“She always looked friendly, but nobody ever approached her. And it was just another celeb to them,” the insider added.

In the summer of 2024, Ellen and Portia decided to part with their previous Montecito estate to embrace life on a U.K. farm more fully. Initially, the move was intended as a part-time endeavor, but Ellen solidified her stay following the 2024 U.S. election results.

In an interview with Richard Bacon, Ellen recounted the emotional morning following the election, “We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in’. And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here.'”

Since relocating, Ellen has embraced the simpler, more charming life on the English countryside. She’s shared glimpses of her new experiences on social media, expressing appreciation for the picturesque surroundings and kind people.

While generally private about her new lifestyle, Ellen did share, “It’s absolutely beautiful. We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture — everything you see is charming, and it’s just a simpler way of life. It’s clean. Everything here is just better — the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.”

Portia transported her horses across the pond, and Ellen has taken up raising chickens and briefly kept sheep. The move, despite being during winter, allowed Ellen to witness snow for the first time, which added to her fondness for her new home.

Rosie O’Donnell, a fellow comedian, was surprised at Ellen’s move abroad, especially citing political reasons. O’Donnell remarked, “I’ve never really known Ellen to say anything political in her life, so I was surprised to read that she left because of President Trump. Like, that shocked me, actually.” Nonetheless, she wished Ellen peace and happiness in her new life.
