The NFL has decided to suspend Alaric Jackson, the left tackle for the Los Angeles Rams, for two games. This comes after he punched Buffalo Bills’ edge rusher Bradley Chubb during a game on Monday night.
After the game, footage clearly showed Jackson losing his temper and hitting Chubb during what was supposed to be a routine handshake and jersey exchange. The confrontation violated Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1, which addresses actions against sportsmanship principles. Jackson plans to appeal the suspension.
The official suspension statement reads: “Jackson struck Buffalo linebacker Bradley Chubb in the face… violating Rule 12, Section 3, Article 1… contrary to sportsmanship principles.”
Chubb managed to maintain his composure as teammates restrained him, avoiding further escalation. He commented on the situation, acknowledging the emotional nature of the game but recognizing that cameras were present: “It’s just emotions… They always catch the second guy. So, I let him swing… and I just chilled.”
This incident is not the first time Jackson has been in trouble. In June 2026, he was arrested for felony domestic violence in Southern California. Although formal charges were not filed, the NFL is reviewing the case.
In 2024, Alaric Jackson received a two-game suspension under the Personal Conduct Policy. He had recorded intimate encounters without consent, resulting in a civil lawsuit. Such patterns indicate ongoing issues with judgment.
The Rams, under coach Sean McVay, emphasize accountability and team culture. Despite this, Jackson’s actions continue to draw negative attention. With a 2-3 record, the Rams need stability to protect quarterback Matthew Stafford, making Jackson’s suspension particularly impactful.
