Senior Russian Military Officer Hospitalized After Shooting Incident in Moscow

In a serious development early Friday, Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseyev, a high-ranking official within the Russian military intelligence, was shot and subsequently hospitalized. According to authorities, the incident occurred within a residential building in the northwest area of Moscow. An unidentified assailant reportedly carried out the attack and then escaped the scene, as stated by Russia’s Investigative Committee.

This worrying event takes place just a little over a month after another senior military officer, Lt. Gen. Fanil Sarvarov, tragically lost his life in a similar violent incident. Sarvarov was killed when a bomb placed under his car detonated, also in Moscow.
