Tennessee Titans Make Major Trade
The Tennessee Titans executed a significant trade during the 2026 NFL season, sending defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons to the Chicago Bears. The Bears offered two first-round picks and a fourth-round selection in return. This acquisition positions Chicago strategically as they aim for a Super Bowl victory, a feat they last achieved in 1985. Meanwhile, the Titans gain valuable draft capital to bolster their rebuilding efforts.
Cam Ward’s Future with the Titans
Questions have emerged regarding Cam Ward’s future as Tennessee’s quarterback. Ward, in his second NFL season, has faced challenges, and the team struggles with a 1-6 record. The deadline for trades is approaching on November 10, leading to speculation about Tennessee’s plans at quarterback.
“The Tennessee Titans continue to stand squarely behind Cam Ward, and they still believe in him,” said ESPN insider Adam Schefter on “NFL Live.”
Schefter explained that Ward has dealt with three different head coaches and offensive coordinators, suggesting the Titans continue to support his development. Although the situation could change, the current stance is to maintain confidence in Ward’s potential.
Ward’s Season Performance
Ward’s statistics over seven games reflect his difficulties. Completing 62% of his passes for 1,179 yards, with four touchdowns and five interceptions, he also posted a passer rating of 73.8. This rating is lower than his rookie year figure of 80.2. Despite acquiring new talents like receivers Carnell Tate and Wan’Dale Robinson and offensive coordinator Brian Daboll, improvements remain scarce.
Ward’s struggles have sparked concerns about his role going forward. While trading for veteran quarterbacks isn’t a current priority for the Titans, Ward’s performance could impact future decisions, especially during the drafting seasons.
Draft Implications and Future Prospects
With additional first-round picks for 2027 and 2028 in their possession, the Titans hold an advantageous position to select top-tier quarterback prospects such as Darian Mensah, Dante Moore, Arch Manning, Trinidad Chambliss, Julian Sayin, and CJ Carr. Although the Simmons trade does not necessarily indicate a loss of faith in Ward, it broadens their options ahead.
