Reporter covering the Trump administration and political forces shaping Washington. President Donald Trump hosted a Halloween party at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Palm Beach, Florida, on Saturday. The event featured costumed leopards and jungle birds, with guests enjoying a buffet of delicacies in a ballroom filled with dry ice.

The president, wearing his usual suit and red tie, told reporters that he ‘came as Donald Trump.’ He commented on the effort and expense rich people go through for costumes and mentioned his preparation time was only ten minutes.

The party had a jungle theme. Reporters saw guests in sequined leotards, face paint, and animal print jackets. Circus performers entertained those present. Among the attendees were House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) and U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor.

Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte accompanied the president from Washington, D.C. Attorney General Todd Blanche was also seen among the guests. The extravagant gathering was held days before the midterm elections, which focused heavily on voter concerns about living costs.

Election Developments in Alaska and Maine

Senator Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) stated his intention to accept Alaska’s election results regardless of the outcome. The race included controversy over another candidate with a similar name, Dan J. Sullivan Jr. Reports suggested that the Democratic nominee Mary Peltola’s campaign was involved in recruiting Dan J. Sullivan Jr. as a strategy to divert votes from the incumbent. Her campaign denied these allegations. The Trump administration filed a lawsuit to block certification if the incumbent loses by a narrow margin.

Alaska asked a federal judge to reject the lawsuit, arguing that the demands were inappropriate given the voters’ right to ballot secrecy. The state emphasized its ballot design intended to minimize confusion.

In Maine, Democratic candidate Matt Dunlap visited volunteer wood choppers to emphasize economic hardships in the region. The Waldo County Wood Shed, a charity providing free firewood, has been operating for over a decade. Rising heating oil prices have increased demand. Dunlap connected with voters through shared concerns about affordability and rising property taxes in his district.

Michigan Senate Race and Texas Politics

In Michigan, Rep. Haley Stevens (D) urged voters to participate in the Senate race, despite her previous criticisms of party nominee Abdul El-Sayed. Tensions rose due to an ad from Rebellion PAC, which Stevens and her fiancé publicly opposed. Stevens released a statement supporting constituents’ need for clear leadership.

At a rally for Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in Fort Worth, State Rep. Andy Hopper claimed Paxton’s impeachment helped identify Republicans less committed to their movement. Despite impeachment on bribery and corruption charges, Paxton was acquitted by the state Senate. He retaliated against House Republicans who had voted for his impeachment, leading to primary challenges and losses for some incumbents.

Supporters at the rally remained unfazed by the impeachment, expressing satisfaction with Paxton’s acquittal. They viewed his actions as beneficial for conservative representation in Texas.
