Grieving Father Honors Daughter’s Heroism in Tragic Jet Crash

Allan Filgueiras stood in front of a photo of his daughter, Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, during a news conference in Coral Gables, Florida. Nathalia, a co-pilot, tragically died in a Learjet crash that claimed nine lives. In a deeply emotional moment, her father praised her bravery in the plane’s final moments. Struggling with tears, he expressed a heartfelt wish to have been there to aid her.

At the conference, Allan revealed he had listened repeatedly to the recording of his daughter communicating with air traffic control. First, Nathalia reported ice accumulation; then, she declared an emergency while the aircraft plummeted. ‘I wanted to be by her side,’ Allan said. ‘She showed what it means to be a hero, confronting an impending disaster.’

There have been some online doubts about Nathalia’s experience level as a co-pilot of a high-performance jet. With over 1,300 hours and completion of rigorous training, she was qualified, having both a commercial pilot’s license and Learjet certification. Stuart Grossman, the family’s attorney, emphasized the need to honor Nathalia’s memory and protect her reputation.

The ill-fated flight was en route from Austin to the Bahamas, carrying two pilots and seven passengers, when it crashed near West Palm Beach.
