The United States has announced a reward of up to $20 million for information related to Iran’s nuclear program. The State Department, through its Rewards for Justice program, also mentions potential relocation for informants according to the U.S. Central Command’s post on X. This program, set up in 1984, offers financial incentives for information aiding counterterrorism efforts.
President Donald Trump has consistently stated that preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons is a primary goal. He claims Iran is near achieving this capability, although he previously declared that Tehran’s nuclear enrichment sites were ‘completely and totally obliterated.’
The State Department seeks information concerning Iranian facilities, equipment, personnel in the scientific community, and movements associated with these elements. This reward offer comes after Secretary of State Marco Rubio encouraged Cubans to discreetly communicate with the CIA, a suggestion ridiculed by Cuban officials.
Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fernández de Cossío commented, ‘There must be a lot of desperation or poverty within the agency if it has to market its job offers like toothpaste.’
