Wisconsin Chase Ends with Car Going Airborne

1 month ago 0

Video from a recent high-speed chase in Wisconsin captures an unexpected moment when the fleeing driver launched their car over another vehicle. The dashcam footage quickly went viral after the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office released it, documenting the event that occurred on the morning of May 9.

According to FOX 6, the incident began when Wisconsin State Patrol stopped a car and called for backup due to an active felony warrant. As a deputy from the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office and another trooper arrived, the driver sped away, prompting a high-speed chase.

The pursuit ended dramatically when the driver lost control of their vehicle. It veered into a ditch, then went up an embankment, causing the car to become airborne and fly over another vehicle. The car traveled over the road, eventually landing in a field on the opposite side.

Police identified Dewayne Stokes, 44, as the fleeing driver. Despite the crash, he exited the car and resisted arrest until officers used a taser. He was subsequently taken into custody and transported to a hospital with minor injuries.

The chase lasted around four and a half miles, with a small portion of that distance covered through the air. Stokes faced seven charges, including first-degree reckless endangering safety and eluding an officer. His cash bond was set at $25,000, and court records indicated he was due to appear in court on June 24.

At the time of this incident, Stokes was out on bond related to a charge for operating a vehicle without the owner’s consent. A warrant for his arrest had been issued due to his prior failure to appear in court.
