1 month ago 0

A close friend of Stewart McLean, a ‘Virgin River’ actor who recently passed away, described a sense of foreboding surrounding his disappearance. Jeff Seymour, an acting coach and friend of McLean, shared his concerns in an interview with The Canadian Press.

Seymour pointed out McLean’s punctual nature, noting it was unusual for him to miss filming. ‘He was meticulous about everything,’ Seymour said. ‘When I heard he didn’t show up on Saturday morning, I knew something was seriously wrong.’

The missing persons investigation into McLean’s disappearance has evolved into a homicide investigation, as confirmed by local police and reported by Lions Bay Search and Rescue on Facebook.

Stewart McLean’s case is now being treated as a homicide.

Seymour emphasized McLean’s sharp awareness of his surroundings. ‘He was incredibly situationally aware,’ Seymour added, expressing his confusion about how someone may have fooled McLean. Despite being somewhat of a loner, McLean was well-loved and did not have conflicts with others.

The Squamish RCMP began searching for McLean after he was reported missing on May 18. He was last seen at his home in Lions Bay on May 15. The investigation uncovered evidence suggesting McLean was the victim of a homicide.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) took over the investigation, with collaborative efforts from the RCMP and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to progress the case.

According to a statement provided to CBC News, McLean’s remains have been discovered and identified. The investigation now focuses on collecting evidence, reviewing CCTV footage, and conducting interviews to piece together McLean’s activities before May 15.

Stewart McLean had roles in popular shows like Netflix’s ‘Virgin River,’ ‘Arrow,’ and ‘Murder in a Small Town.’ He also worked as a producer on several projects, earning respect in the Canadian entertainment industry.
