Ongoing Conflict Escalates Between Israel and Hezbollah

4 weeks ago 0

After Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made an announcement, the Israeli military reported that it had targeted over 70 Hezbollah locations within a day.

As President Trump sent mixed signals regarding progress on a peace deal with Iran, Netanyahu signaled intensifying conflict with Hezbollah, an Iranian-backed Lebanese militia. He stated, “We are at war with Hezbollah,” in a social media video.

Even though a U.S.-brokered cease-fire began in April, clashes continue as both Israel and Hezbollah accuse each other of breaking the agreement. This conflict has recently escalated, challenging the fragile truce.

In a video message, Netanyahu claimed the Israeli forces had killed over 600 Hezbollah militants in recent weeks and planned to increase military pressure. “We are not removing our foot from the pedal,” he insisted. “On the contrary, I said to press on the pedal even more.”

This escalation adds complexity to U.S.-Iran negotiations, with Iran demanding Lebanon’s inclusion in any deal, while Trump has not addressed the Israel-Hezbollah conflict in his recent discussions about a potential agreement.

The Lebanese health ministry reported that Israeli strikes in Lebanon since March have resulted in 3,185 deaths and injured more than 9,600 people. The violence, sparked by Hezbollah strikes on Israel following an American-Israeli attack on Iran in February, has displaced hundreds of thousands.
