Caitlin Clark is making an impressive return in her third WNBA season with the Indiana Fever. After a limited 13-game stint last year due to a groin injury, she is now contending with a persistent back issue. This back problem has required some adjustments and led her to miss the fourth game against the Portland Fire. Despite this, both Clark and head coach Stephanie White have minimized the severity, indicating no major concern.
Clark shared insights into her physical and mental adjustments in managing these injuries. She noted, “I don’t think it necessarily started at a certain point. I think it’s just been over the course of the last year when I’ve kind of been understanding my body more.” Clark explained her earlier approach of constantly pushing to “go play, go play, go play” but acknowledged her increased awareness of her body’s signals.
Despite these challenges, Clark is excelling on the court. She is achieving career-high averages with 23.8 points, 9.0 assists, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game. Her shooting percentages are also impressive, hitting 43.2% from the field, 34.8% from beyond the arc, and 96.4% from the free-throw line.
