Recent coordinated operations between the FBI and local Texas agencies resulted in more than 276 arrests linked to child exploitation. Authorities also rescued 89 children. This effort, known as Operation Soteria Shield, is part of a broader national initiative called Operation Iron Pursuit, targeting online sexual exploitation and trafficking in North Texas.
FBI Director Kash Patel emphasized the agency’s commitment to dismantling child predator networks. He highlighted the success in Dallas, stating, “Every single day this FBI is moving more aggressively than ever before to destroy child predator networks and save innocent victims all over the country.”
Operation Soteria Shield conducted its activities in March and April, focusing on apprehending individuals exploiting children through online platforms, social media, and messaging applications. The operation involved 91 law enforcement agencies across Texas.
Dallas Police Department Chief Daniel Comeaux commented, “Protecting children from those who seek to exploit them is among the most important work we do in law enforcement.”
Patel also noted, “These are young lives saved, families reunited, and future crimes prevented by brave law enforcement doing their jobs.” He further shared data on the agency’s progress since the previous year, highlighting a 144% increase in locating child victims and a 70% increase in arrests of child predators. Over 6,940 child victims have been found, and nearly 3,000 child predators have been arrested in that period.
Operation Iron Pursuit’s national efforts also recently led to the arrest of over 350 offenders involved in child sexual abuse across the country.
