A United Airlines flight on its way to Minneapolis had to make an unexpected stop in Wisconsin on Friday night. The diversion occurred to address an incident involving an unruly passenger.
According to an airline spokesperson, United flight 2005, traveling from Chicago to Minneapolis, landed safely in Madison, Wisconsin. The action was necessary to manage a security concern arising from the passenger’s behavior.
Law enforcement officers on board acted swiftly to restrain the unruly individual. Carrie Springer, a representative for the Dane County Regional Airport, confirmed the involvement of officers. When the aircraft landed, deputies from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office were present to remove the passenger.
Springer noted that federal authorities have taken charge of the ongoing investigation. The Boeing 737-900 had a total of 147 passengers and six crew members. Fortunately, the airline reported that no one sustained injuries during the incident.
After the situation was handled, the flight resumed its journey to Minneapolis. It successfully arrived early on Saturday morning.
