Taliban’s Rule Leads to Economic and Social Decline

3 weeks ago 0

Since taking control of Afghanistan in 2021, the Taliban has faced numerous challenges. The economy has weakened significantly under their authority, resulting in increased malnutrition and the loss of over half a million jobs.

Women and girls above the age of 12 have been prohibited from working and attending school. This has sparked international concern and criticism.

Earlier this year, Taliban security forces were seen maintaining their presence near the Torkham border crossing between Afghanistan and Pakistan, as captured in images by Aimal Zahir from AFP/Getty Images.

Under Taliban rule, there has been a tangible shift in governance. Their strict policies have affected not only the country’s economy but also the rights and freedoms of its citizens, particularly women and girls.
