All Elite Wrestling (AEW) consistently brings innovative match formats to its audience. Among the memorable ones are Stadium Stampede, Anarchy in the Arena, Blood and Guts, and Casino Gauntlets. The latest addition to these unique matches is the Clockwork Carnage, debuting at WrestleDream.
Welcome, Clockwork Carnage.
Eight wrestlers will participate in the Clockwork Carnage match, and the winner must navigate through two stages. The format involves two randomly selected wrestlers initiating the match, with another wrestler entering every three minutes. Competitors are eliminated via pinfall or submission until all eight participants have joined.
Following the entry of the eighth wrestler, the contest enters a 15-minute scoring phase where each pinfall or submission earns one fall. The wrestler with the most falls when time expires will be declared the winner.
Adding to the event’s excitement, current AEW World Champion Will Ospreay will defend his title in this match. Ospreay claimed the championship by defeating Kenny Omega in August and faces a title defense against Kazuchika Okada at Grand Slam France before WrestleDream.
Jack Perry and Samoa Joe are also set for battles to determine additional participants. Joe recently returned to the action at AEW All Out after a brief hiatus.
AEW’s founder and CEO Tony Khan made an appearance at the Sports Illustrated Sportsperson of the Year ceremony in January 2026.
WrestleDream occurs on October 17 at Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida. The event continues AEW’s tradition of pushing the boundaries of wrestling entertainment.
