Arizona Cardinals Executive Suspended for Gambling Policy Violation

An executive from the Arizona Cardinals, Ryan Gold, is facing indefinite suspension due to his violation of the NFL’s gambling policy. Gold, who holds the position of director of college scouting, was caught in breach of league rules, which led to this disciplinary action.

The league’s investigation concluded that Gold disseminated confidential information concerning the Cardinals’ selections for the 2026 NFL Draft prior to their official announcement. While the league did not specify to whom Gold provided this information, the breach was significant enough to warrant suspension.

In addition to sharing inside information, Gold placed parlay bets on both NFL and college games. This wagering activity violated the strict policies laid out by the NFL regarding gambling practices among its personnel. The NFL emphasized that their gambling policy is critically important and reiterated that their findings did not compromise the integrity of any NFL matches.

The Gambling Policy, which is annually reviewed with all NFL personnel, strictly prohibits anyone in the NFL from participating in or facilitating any form of sports gambling, and from providing third parties non-public information.

The Cardinals organization released a statement supporting the league’s decision, noting the clarity and consistency of the NFL’s employee policies. The team emphasized their ongoing preparation for the upcoming training camp and the 2026 season.

Gold’s career with the Cardinals dates back 13 seasons. He advanced to the role of director of college scouting in June 2025 following three seasons as the assistant director and four as the scouting coordinator. His responsibilities included overseeing the daily operations and organization of the college scouting department, evaluating draft prospects, and coordinating pre-draft activities.
