Arizona Cardinals Extend Contract with Hjalte Froholdt

The Arizona Cardinals have secured a key player for the future by extending the contract of offensive lineman Hjalte Froholdt. This new deal ensures that Froholdt will remain with the team through the 2028 season.

Froholdt entered the NFL as a guard, selected in the fourth round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Since then, he has transitioned to the center position. He initially joined the Cardinals on a two-year contract in March 2023. As of August 25, the franchise has agreed to a two-year, $20 million extension with him.

“Sources: The AZCardinals and C Hjalte Froholdt have agreed to terms on a 2-year, $20M contract extension, keeping him in the fold through the 2028 season,” Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday. “One of their most consistent performances and anchors of their O-lines gets rewarded.”

Froholdt has been praised for his consistency on the field. Despite the challenges faced by Arizona’s offensive line, he has emerged as a reliable player. Last season, the Cardinals struggled, allowing the fifth most sacks in the league. However, Froholdt stood out as a solid presence in the middle.

His durability has also been a significant asset. Since September 2023, Froholdt has started every regular-season game for Arizona. His ability to stay healthy adds to his value for the team.

While Froholdt’s extension strengthens the center position, other areas of the line still need attention. Right tackle Elijah Wilkinson’s performance remains a subject of debate, and guard Isaiah Adams must demonstrate his potential to secure his place with the team. Nonetheless, with Froholdt’s extension, the Cardinals can address other concerns without worrying about the center of their line.
