Bryson DeChambeau’s Tensions Rise Amid LIV Golf Uncertainties

6 minutes ago 0

Bryson DeChambeau faces mounting pressure as the LIV Golf season concludes in Indianapolis. The future of LIV Golf beyond 2026 remains uncertain, following the announcement by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) to cease funding. This decision affects not only the tournament’s continuation but also its financial landscape, with the individual purse reduced from $20 million to $10.1 million.

DeChambeau, a central figure in LIV Golf, appears frustrated by the situation. His recent interactions with the media at the practice facilities at The Club at Chatham Hills underline his tension. Reporters observed DeChambeau as he practiced, where he humorously referred to them as the ‘mafia’, suggesting a level of discomfort with the media presence.

“Oooh the mafia has arrived. The mafia. You guys love talking s–t,” DeChambeau remarked.

Golf.com’s Sean Zak clarified that DeChambeau was mostly joking, though the situation became more uncomfortable the next day. Ryan French, a notable figure on social media known for his Monday Q Info account, was asked to leave the area by someone from DeChambeau’s team, despite merely watching the practice session.

Following this incident, French disclosed that DeChambeau reached out to him personally. French shared, “Bryson gave me a call this afternoon, we spoke for about 20 mins. While the conversation will remain off the record, I really appreciate him calling. A lot of players wouldn’t have done that.” This gesture suggests a willingness from DeChambeau to address misunderstandings.

As the LIV Golf series closes its chapter in 2026, players like DeChambeau prepare for the final events, including a LIV Team Championship that was scheduled for Michigan but was later canceled. DeChambeau’s recent performance, including a T-38 finish at LIV New York and missing cuts in major championships, adds to the pressures he currently navigates.
