Buccaneers’ Emeka Egbuka Leaves Practice Due to Injury

Emeka Egbuka, a wide receiver in his second year with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, exited Wednesday’s practice and did not make a return. Although the exact nature and severity of his injury are not specified, he did manage to walk off the field independently but with a noticeable limp.

“Buccaneers WR Emeka Egbuka limped off with athletic trainers. Was examined on the sideline table for a while. Hard to see exactly what’s up from where we are but he’s still on the table and hasn’t returned,” reported Mike Garafolo, an NFL Network insider, who was observing the training camp practice.

Garafolo continued with an update: “Egbuka, with both cleats off, just walked back to the sideline to watch the rest of practice.”

Egbuka was impressive during his rookie season, being the Buccaneers’ No. 19 overall pick in the draft. As a former standout at Ohio State, he quickly became a preferred target for quarterback Baker Mayfield. Last season, he recorded 63 catches, accumulating 938 yards, and scored six touchdowns over the full 17-game regular-season stretch.

With veteran wide receiver Mike Evans leaving the team this offseason, Egbuka was anticipated to take on a more crucial role in 2026.

The Buccaneers are scheduled to start their 2026 regular-season campaign with a Week 1 contest against the Cincinnati Bengals on September 13.
