Cam Schlittler Shines on the Field and Responds to Criticism

4 days ago 0

Cam Schlittler of the New York Yankees delivered a remarkable performance both during the game and on social media. The 25-year-old pitcher achieved a career-high 13 strikeouts in six scoreless innings, leading the Yankees to a 5-0 victory over the Cincinnati Reds at Yankee Stadium.

Schlittler, originally from Walpole, Massachusetts, encountered criticism from a Boston Red Sox fan before Game 3 of the previous season’s AL Wild Card. Despite striking out 12 Red Sox hitters in that game, the criticism continued.

Following his impressive start against the Reds, Schlittler took to social media to address a particularly harsh fan. He recorded the fan’s messages and shared them on his Instagram Story, humorously captioned ‘Rent Free’ with laughing emojis.

“Never forget where u came from,” one of the messages read from the fan, whose Instagram handle is ‘Kyle_Lynch11.’.

The criticism started on the day of last year’s Wild Card game, with Kyle Lynch calling Schlittler a clown. The messages persisted through the winter months, with insults questioning Schlittler’s origins and fashion sense. Following a comment accompanied by vomit emojis, Schlittler replied with, “Stop glazing lil bro.”

The insults gained intensity, with Lynch predicting failure against the Reds. The scenario played out differently, as Schlittler’s performance dropped his ERA to a leading 1.71 in the American League. His season stats now stand at 8-3, with 109 strikeouts over 95 innings, using an effective mix of a fastball, sinker, and cutter.

Although Lynch’s remarks were not as severe as the death threats Schlittler and his family reportedly received from some Red Sox fans, they captured attention online.
