Controversial Trump Statue Displayed in European Parliament

22 minutes ago 0

A statue depicting former U.S. President Donald Trump in gold has been displayed at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France. The creation by Danish artist Jens Galschiot shows Trump nude and seated on the shoulders of a smaller figure.

The artwork, crafted from 23-karat gold, is titled “The Orange Plague.” Below the 2.5-meter statue is an inscription: “I am sitting on the back of a man. He is sinking under my burden. I will do anything to help him. Except stepping down from his back. — The King of Injustice.”

A statement on Galschiot’s website expresses concern. It says, “Trump represents one of the greatest threats to the rule-based world order, democratic values, and our common effort to solve the climate crisis. We must address this issue and unite against such destructive influence.”

The statue will stay in Strasbourg until Thursday. It will then travel to the COP31 UN Climate Conference in Turkey in November. Previously, it was displayed at events including the COP30 UN Climate Summit in Brazil, the Munich Security Conference in Germany, Denmark’s Rebild Festival, and the Stand with Greenland Demonstrations.

Newsweek has contacted The White House for a comment on this display. The situation is ongoing, with further updates expected.
