Crane Collapse at Miami Luxury Condo

Construction workers experienced a terrifying ordeal when a crane they were assembling malfunctioned. The crane’s arm collapsed onto the pool deck of a nearby luxury high-rise in Miami. The incident was captured on video by a bystander, Macie Norrod.

Footage recorded from Norrod’s home office showed the crane’s arm swinging through the air before crashing into palm trees on the pool area at the One Plaza West Brickell condo building. Norrod described the event as shocking, believing at one moment that she might witness the workers suffer serious injuries.

In the video, workers wearing green vests were seen clinging to the structure’s upper portion. Fortunately, the workers managed to descend safely using ladders to reach the ground.

According to Miami Fire Rescue spokesperson Lt. Pete Sanchez, the crane was undergoing assembly and was not operational at the time of the collapse. A failure occurred, causing the crane’s arm to fall onto the rooftop deck, with part of it submerged in the pool. Miami Fire Rescue personnel quickly reached the site, confirming no injuries or victims in the area.

The scene was secured to prevent public access while safety checks continued. The construction company confirmed that all workers were present, and there were no injuries reported.

The Miami Building Department alongside the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration have launched investigations into the cause of the incident.
