Democracy Dies in Darkness. President Donald Trump has frequently promoted the donations to the White House ballroom project as beneficial for taxpayers. However, critics are concerned that the administration’s decision not to publish a comprehensive list of donors may open up avenues for corruption.
According to a government watchdog report released Thursday, more than half of the publicly identified contributors to the project have secured new or expanded federal contracts. These contracts total over $50 billion in value in just the past six months.
