Dominik Mysterio: Rising WWE Star and Father-Son Feud

5 hours ago 0

Dominik Mysterio, son of WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio, has emerged as one of the prominent figures on the WWE roster. His rise to fame, particularly as a heel, began with his association with The Judgment Day faction. Since then, Dominik has become a two-time intercontinental champion and captured the AAA Mega Championship.

The tension between Dominik and Rey Mysterio will intensify as they face off during Monday Night RAW at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts on July 1, 2024. Dominik is also set to play a crucial role in AAA’s Triplemania 34, held over two days in Las Vegas and Mexico City. In Las Vegas, Dominik will support Omos, who competes against Rey Mysterio. Meanwhile, El Grande Americano will be backing Rey. On Night 2, Dominik and El Grande Americano will clash for the coveted AAA Mega Championship.

The father-son rivalry has grown since Dominik’s involvement with The Judgment Day, leading to a widening gap between them. Dominik accuses his father of being a “deadbeat” as their lives have intersected over the years.

“I think, for me, what would complete the storyline is for him to relinquish his mask,” Dominik said regarding the feud’s end. “For him to acknowledge me as Rey Mysterio, take on the name, kneel, apologize, and retire by handing over the mask. That would be the perfect conclusion.”

In Lucha Libre, removing an opponent’s mask signifies disrespect. Wrestlers sometimes bet their masks in fierce rivalries, as seen earlier this year between El Grande Americano and the Original El Grande Americano.

Whether Rey Mysterio will concede to these demands remains uncertain. At 51, Rey is still at his peak, acting as the AAA general manager with no apparent intention to set aside these responsibilities anytime soon.

Triplemania 34 Night 1 kicks off at 10 p.m. ET at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, available to watch on YouTube.
