Emergency Landing of Flydubai Plane Highlights Cockpit Security

On recent aircraft models, cockpit doors function as strengthened barriers, essential for preventing unauthorized access. However, on Wednesday, a Flydubai plane had to make an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia due to a threat originating from inside the cockpit.

The incident onboard the Flydubai flight could have resulted in a much more severe outcome if passengers and crew had not managed to access the cockpit. Such doors became a primary measure against terrorism following the 9/11 attacks when hijackers breached them to take over the flights.

Israeli passenger Yaniv Hayoun, who was on this flight, received a warm welcome upon arrival at Ben Gurion International Airport in Israel. The swift response by those onboard was crucial in averting a potential disaster.
