A Florida resident has been arrested as authorities investigate the suspected murder of his father in Marion County. The case began when the disappearance of 43-year-old Andres Bahamon-Prada was reported. His family alerted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office on May 16, noting he had not been seen since May 7.

Bahamon-Prada lived in Dunnellon with his 25-year-old son, Andres Bahamon. Suspicions of foul play emerged during the investigation, leading authorities to treat the case as a homicide. On Monday, Andres Bahamon was arrested in connection with his father’s disappearance.

According to an affidavit, Bahamon initially claimed he last saw his father on the evening of May 7. He stated Bahamon-Prada returned home and mentioned an unknown individual was picking him up. Additionally, Bahamon-Prada’s silver 2007 Infiniti M35 vanished days later and remains unaccounted for.

An affidavit revealed a significant piece of evidence when the victim’s mother encountered the suspect and he implied his father was dead. She recounted how the suspect mentioned believing his father was “in hell where he deserves to be” due to being “an evil person” and a “junkie.” Investigators discovered shattered glass doors with apparent bullet damage, a shell casing, suspected bloodstains, and freshly disturbed soil on the property.

The investigation further uncovered that Bahamon allegedly sent a photo to his mother in Germany, showing what appeared to be a deceased man near wooden steps at their home. A man matching Bahamon-Prada’s description was seen in the photograph with visible red stains.

Upon executing a search warrant, detectives found a large rolled carpet buried in fresh dirt. They detected the smell of decomposition and uncovered suspected human remains. While efforts are ongoing to confirm the identity of the remains, the investigation led to Bahamon’s arrest for tampering with evidence in the missing-person investigation.

Detectives suspect Bahamon attempted to hide or remove his father’s body to obstruct the homicide investigation. The search for Bahamon-Prada’s missing vehicle continues, as investigators believe it holds essential evidence. Anyone with information on the vehicle or the case should contact the Marion County Sheriff’s Office at 352-732-9111.
