Giorgio Armani’s Legacy Continues with Innovative Fashion Show

1 hour ago 0

The enduring influence of Giorgio Armani was celebrated in a recent runway event held at his historic headquarters in Milan. The show was followed by a casual garden dinner attended by celebrities and business associates. The Giorgio Armani Foundation seeks a buyer for a 15% stake in Armani’s fashion group, as specified in the late designer’s will. This adds pressure to each runway show to prove that his creative vision remains both enduring and evolving.

Staying True to Armani’s Vision

Silvana Armani, the head of womenswear design and Armani’s niece, shared her thoughts after the co-ed show that closed Milan Fashion Week. She emphasized their effort to continue the message her uncle conveyed through his designs. The menswear collection for next summer was blended with womenswear cruise looks, showcasing Armani’s signature relaxed style. This nonchalance was apparent in the models’ relaxed gestures, such as a model fiddling with a ring or casually slinging a jacket over a shoulder.

Despite adhering to the iconic aesthetics, Silvana Armani and menswear designer Leo Dell’Orco introduced subtle changes. Jackets were elongated beyond the standard Armani style, while trousers offered a slimmer profile to balance the overall silhouette. Observers noted that the 160 designs presented felt like real attire for everyday outings rather than standard runway pieces. Dell’Orco remarked that during fittings, models seemed astonished, feeling as though they could walk straight onto the streets.

Evoking Mediterranean Charm

The collection embraced a Mediterranean mood, incorporating safari jackets and elongated blazers combined with plunging shawl-collar vests or shirts with long neckties for various occasions. The palette included sun-bleached greens, cobalt blues, and sandy neutrals, which reinforced the collection’s relaxed summer feel. Fabrics like linen, cotton, and textured knits contributed to the laid-back vibe.

Silvana Armani, presenting her first womenswear cruise collection, seamlessly integrated jackets, coats, and dresses that gracefully draped over the figure. Dell’Orco expressed confidence that Giorgio Armani would have appreciated these styles.

Celebrated Guests and Next Steps

Front-row attendees featured actors like Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mark Strong, and Lucy Boynton, alongside pop singer Conan Gray. After the show, guests, including film director Paolo Sorrentino and former Gucci CEO Marco Bizzarri, enjoyed a cocktail dinner in the adjacent garden.

Giorgio Armani’s will dictates the sale of 15% of the company within 18 months of his passing. This encompasses the Emporio Armani label, Armani/Casa, and Armani Hotels. Silvana Armani and Dell’Orco continue to perpetuate his creative legacy. Dell’Orco, also chairman of the foundation, handles key governance for Armani’s empire and controls 40% of the fashion group’s voting rights.

In response to speculation that Dario Vitale, formerly of Versace, might join Emporio Armani, Dell’Orco clarified to ANSA that such rumors are unfounded.
