Joy Behar, co-host of ‘The View,’ clarified the nature of her impending break from the daytime talk show on Friday. Contrary to some reports labeling her absence as a ‘hiatus,’ Behar stated it is simply a temporary break for professional commitments.
Initially, Behar had shared during the show’s ‘Behind the Table’ podcast that she would be stepping away for a short period. The show’s producer, Brian Teta, mentioned her temporary absence during the podcast, indicating her upcoming break from hosting duties.
On Friday, Behar addressed rumors during the show. She emphasized that her departure would not be a hiatus but a two-week trip to London to work on her play. The play, titled ‘My First Ex-Husband,’ will be featured in London.
“Okay, so there’s been a lot of media attention on me lately because I’m taking off the next two weeks. They’re calling it a hiatus. It’s not a hiatus,” Behar noted. “I’m working. I have a planned trip overseas next week to work on my play, ‘My First Ex-Husband,’ in London.”
As audience members reacted with enthusiasm, Behar urged viewers to explore the official website for details on her play and other upcoming performances.
Behar mentioned she has penned several plays, with plans for another production, ‘Bonkers in the Boroughs,’ in the Hamptons later this summer. According to the information available, ‘My First Ex-Husband’ is an adaptation of true relationships stories, featuring a blend of humor and candid storytelling. Famous personalities from theater, television, and film will bring these narratives to life.
During the show, co-host Sara Haines humorously commented on the use of the term ‘hiatus,’ clarifying that it implies a break from working. Behar’s co-hosts expressed they would miss her and joked about staying in touch via text messages.
Meanwhile, the official description of Behar’s play highlights its bold exploration of love, sex, and relationships with sharp wit and truthfulness. A rotating lineup of stars adds unique elements to the storytelling.
