Justin Baldoni Speaks on ‘It Ends With Us’ Legal Dispute

4 weeks ago 0

Justin Baldoni recently addressed the legal issues surrounding the film ‘It Ends With Us’. In a video shared on Instagram, he and his wife, Emily, expressed gratitude for the support they received during the challenging period.

Baldoni’s video comes after Blake Lively accused him of sexual harassment during the film’s production. Lively also alleged that Baldoni’s company, Wayfarer Studios, retaliated against her. Baldoni denied these claims.

In recent developments, U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed most of Lively’s claims, including harassment and defamation. Lively, as an independent contractor, was found unable to pursue these under federal civil rights law. Liman upheld three claims: breach of contract, retaliation, and aiding in retaliation. Both parties settled in May before the trial.

In his video, Baldoni noted the impact of the dispute on their lives, emphasizing the importance of letting the justice system take its course. Emily Baldoni remarked that their feelings of gratitude do not nullify the challenges faced. Their family wrestled with understanding the situation and its implications.

Lively publicly shared her allegations in December 2024, four months after the film’s release. Her initial complaint was filed with the California Civil Rights Department, followed by a federal lawsuit. The case gained attention in Hollywood, revealing private messages and studio conversations.

Baldoni, known from ‘Jane the Virgin’, has limited his public presence since the dispute, preferring privacy. He now resides in Nashville, Tennessee. Prior to the recent video, Baldoni last posted on Instagram in June 2025 for his anniversary.

In January 2025, Baldoni countersued Lively and Ryan Reynolds, claiming defamation and extortion. His lawsuit was dismissed, but he faced Lively’s financial damage request based on California law protecting those reporting sexual misconduct. Lively’s team argues her entitlement to attorneys’ fees and litigation expenses.

In the video, the Baldonis thanked supporters. Justin Baldoni expressed deep gratitude, noting their reliance on friends and family. Emily Baldoni suggested they have more to share but are now focusing on healing and family time.
