Kenneth Walker III is excelling with the Kansas City Chiefs this season. The trade from the Seattle Seahawks has been one of the team’s most successful moves in recent years. His impact is already significant.

Through the first four games, Walker rushed for 537 yards. This total leads the NFL by over 100 yards. He broke the Chiefs’ franchise record for the most rushing yards from Week 1 to Week 4, as reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. This is a remarkable achievement for the reigning Super Bowl MVP, considering the Chiefs’ history with legendary running backs.

The last NFL running back to achieve such yardage within the first four weeks was DeMarco Murray in 2014, with 534 yards. Interestingly, Murray now coaches the Chiefs’ running backs. Walker’s performance is reminiscent of his coach’s former prowess.

This season, Walker is a player to watch. He could become the 10th running back to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a single season. He is also on track to break Eric Dickerson’s record of 2,105 yards.

Last season, Walker achieved 1,027 yards. This year, he’s already over halfway to surpassing his career-best. His performance is consistently strong.

Walker has maintained a streak of 14 consecutive wins, dating back to Nov. 23 with the Super Bowl-winning Seahawks last year. The Chiefs are undefeated at 4–0 this season. Patrick Mahomes will likely continue relying on Walker, as this strategy is proving effective. With injuries to wide receivers Rashee Rice and Tyquan Thornton, the run game might become more central in the coming weeks. The Chiefs have a bye week, allowing them more time to address their receiver situation.

During Sunday’s game, despite multiple injuries affecting Kansas City players, Walker was outstanding. He carried the ball for 177 yards and scored two touchdowns on 22 attempts. This game marked his best statistical performance of the season, making franchise history in the process.
