Knicks NBA Finals Watch Parties: Where to Join the Game 5 Celebration

2 weeks ago 0

The Knicks will host a watch party for 3,000 fans outside Madison Square Garden during Game 5 of the NBA finals on Saturday. This comes after skipping a previous event due to a disagreement with the city and the Police Department over security measures. The Knicks have secured three wins in the best-of-seven series against the San Antonio Spurs, and a victory on Saturday could end their title drought of over 50 years.

While celebrations have led to some arrests and injuries to police officers, most have been incident-free. For Games 3 and 4, the Police Department implemented a ‘frozen zone’ around the Garden, requiring screening at checkpoints. The Game 5 watch party will reintroduce this zone, though details on timing and extent are pending. The game starts at 8:30 p.m. Eastern time in San Antonio.

How to Join an Official Watch Party for Game 5

  • Plaza33: The Garden’s outdoor party requires tickets. Registration begins at 10 a.m. Saturday. Attendees must arrive by 8:30 p.m.
  • Radio City Music Hall: Tickets cost $10 and benefit the Garden of Dreams Foundation. They are available from 10 a.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m.
  • Wollman Rink in Central Park: This event is free, but registration begins at 10 a.m. Gates open at 7 p.m.
  • LinkNYC Kiosks: Over 100 kiosks will stream Game 5. Mayor Zohran Mamdani declared this would transform sidewalks into watch parties, celebrating the ‘Knicks in Five.’
