Rep. Mike Lawler, a Republican from New York, expressed confidence that American voters will reject far-left candidates in the midterm elections. Speaking on the program “Fox & Friends Weekend,” Lawler emphasized his belief that voters would not support what he termed the “politics of envy.”
Lawler echoed former President Donald Trump’s concerns about the rise of leftist ideologies. During a recent speech at Mount Rushmore, Trump warned of an increased threat from far-left politics in America. He emphasized the importance of protecting American values and democracy.
As we approach this magnificent anniversary, we see our American identity under a renewed attack. A generation after we fought and won the Cold War against the menace of communism, there is now a resurgence of the communist menace in our land,Trump said.
Trump further stated his commitment to preventing the spread of communism in the United States, which he labeled as a key threat to the nation. He assured that after 250 years, the American dream would persist.
Lawler pointed out several recent successes of Democratic socialist candidates in primary elections, noting such victories in New York, his home state. He described these political shifts as contrary to the vision of America’s Founding Fathers as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary.
House Speaker Mike Johnson also spoke about concerns following the election victories of far-left candidates in New York. He highlighted the seriousness of the current political climate and noted the presence of communist ideologies on American soil. Johnson remarked on the emergence of extreme candidates running for Congress.
The Marxists have nominated some of the most radical candidates to ever run for office, and they’re running for Congress,Johnson stated at a news conference.
Despite these concerns, Lawler believes political differences should not divide the nation.
He remarked, “As we move forward and embark on our next 250 years, this is the greatest country on the face of the Earth. And no matter our differences, no matter the politics of the moment, the fact is we should all be grateful for living in the United States of America.”
