New York Times Executive Killed by In-Laws Amid Family Dispute

53 minutes ago 0

A recent incident involving the tragic death of a New York Times executive, Jonathan McKinsey, is taking center stage. McKinsey, 40, was reportedly shot by his 77-year-old in-laws, Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, at the Dublin Sports Grounds in California.

Family Reaches Out

Days before the incident, McKinsey’s father, William Finney II, left a heartfelt comment on McKinsey’s Facebook photo. He expressed hopes for a family reunion, saying, “Jon, hope everything is going well. Hope you can visit us when you have some free time. Mom and Dad love you so much and miss you.”

Fatal Ambush in a Park

Authorities allege that McKinsey’s in-laws planned the attack, which occurred in a crowded park. Multiple 911 calls reported gunfire. Alameda County District Attorney’s Office has charged the couple with murder. Surveillance footage allegedly captured them opening fire on McKinsey, who was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds.

Police Action

Officers were directed to a black Honda Civic seen leaving the scene. Witnesses identified Zhang and Chen as the shooters. Chen was the driver, with Zhang as the passenger. The police charged them with murder after Zhang admitted to the shooting during investigations.

Background of Family Dispute

The shooting stemmed from a complex family situation. McKinsey was going through a divorce and child custody battle with his estranged wife, Candice Jang. Both parties had filed domestic violence allegations against each other, and court records revealed multiple scheduled hearings.

McKinsey was a transgender man who accused the in-laws of verbal and physical abuse. He alleged that Chen used anti-LGBTQ slurs and that Zhang once struck him. McKinsey also claimed Jang abused him and the children.

Legal Proceedings

Despite the disputes, a judge allowed McKinsey unsupervised visits with his children. Additionally, prosecutors had charged McKinsey with misdemeanors involving child neglect, which he contested.

Ongoing Investigations

The investigation continues as police executed a search warrant at Jang’s home. Authorities have not disclosed further details. The legal representation status of Zhang and Chen remains unclear, and Fox News has reached out to McKinsey’s family for comments.
