A North Carolina mother of three, Christen Phillips, is recovering from a severe brain injury after being attacked during a food delivery. The incident involved a suspect using a baseball bat, resulting in multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds for Phillips.
The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office reported that the attacker, Stanley Shockley, age 44, is now in custody. The attack happened in broad daylight while Phillips was delivering a DoorDash order.
I had multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds,stated Phillips as she described her injuries.
The assault occurred on August 1 in Jacksonville, North Carolina. The incident began when Phillips stopped at an intersection and honked her horn to signal the driver in front, later identified as Shockley. After the honk, the situation escalated as Shockley’s vehicle followed her to the delivery location.
Upon reaching her destination, Phillips exited her car to deliver the order. As she returned, Shockley reportedly ambushed her, using a bat to strike her head and face before fleeing the scene.
Despite the severity of her injuries, Phillips managed to drive herself to a nearby hospital. Her recovery has involved multiple surgeries due to the fractures and head trauma.
The Sheriff’s Office confirmed Shockley’s arrest on charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, where he inflicted serious injuries on Phillips.
Sheriff Chris Thomas acknowledged the community’s support, noting the tips and leads provided were instrumental in identifying and apprehending the suspect.
