Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has denied being aware of Joe Biden’s decline before it became public knowledge. Speaking to Politico’s Jonathan Martin, she stressed ignorance of any issues, saying, “I didn’t know, but those who did should have acted.” Pelosi highlighted the confusion, with claims that both staff and family were aware. She insisted that action should have been taken earlier.
The conversation between Biden and Pelosi in March 2024 caused tensions over the upcoming election. Jill Biden remarked she thought Joe was having a stroke during a disastrous debate performance. Despite speculation, Pelosi denied pushing Biden to drop out of the 2024 race. She confessed questioning Biden’s polling and campaign strategies, not directly suggesting a withdrawal.

Pelosi reportedly suggested Biden involve different pollsters and demonstrate his capability to serve another term. When Martin inquired about Biden’s response, Pelosi affirmed the president felt continuously tested in his role.
Guy Benson, a Fox News political analyst, criticized Pelosi’s denials, labeling them as “non-credible gaslighting.” He believes the recognition of Biden’s decline was obvious and that Pelosi’s motivations were politically driven.
In a subsequent appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Pelosi hinted at Biden’s indecision regarding the 2024 race. She urged him to make a decision promptly, emphasizing the limited time left.
The office of President Biden did not immediately comment on the discussion.
