London – Prince Harry is working to find a way to take his wife Meghan and their children on his upcoming trip to the U.K. next month, representatives for the couple confirmed on Tuesday. A dispute over security arrangements is posing challenges to these plans.
According to the BBC News, Prince Harry is reconsidering traveling with his family to the U.K. for a visit set for July. This comes after British authorities denied his request for taxpayer-funded police protection.
The Sussexes’ representatives told CBS News that Prince Harry is still looking into “every available option” to ensure a safe visit and allow his children to experience the U.K.
Prince Harry and Meghan were seen on April 23, 2025, in New York City. A decision to downgrade Harry’s tax-funded security for his U.K. visits was upheld after a court battle in 2024 and an unsuccessful appeal in 2025. This change followed their 2020 announcement of stepping back from royal duties and relocating to California.
Following the appeal loss, Harry told the BBC he could not see bringing his family back to his home country without taxpayer-funded police protection given to other senior royals.
Many leading royals receive comprehensive personal protection from London’s Metropolitan Police. But since stepping down from his official roles, Harry’s security detail is determined by the U.K. government’s Royal and VIP Executive Committee (Ravec) on an individual basis.
During the court battle, Harry’s legal team argued that private security in the U.K. lacks sufficient authority under British law, as private personnel cannot carry firearms or access government networks.
