In a separate incident involving another tuxedo cat, a man from Maryland allegedly stole a kitten named Magnolia from a pet store. The suspect took Magnolia into a nearby bank and handed her to an employee before demanding cash from a teller. According to police and a local cat rescue, Magnolia was unharmed when Prince George’s County police arrested the man.

Beltsville Community Cats, the rescue group, later humorously claimed Magnolia’s brief “life of crime” had ended. Magnolia is described by the rescue as a “true purr machine” and remains in need of a permanent home following her unexpected involvement in the attempted bank robbery.

Security footage shared by NBC Washington showed the suspect entering Pet Supplies Plus on Baltimore Avenue and making a speedy exit with Magnolia. Witnesses reported seeing the man head straight to the nearby PNC Bank.

Stephanie Stullich from Beltsville Community Cats recalled receiving a frantic call at around 10:30 a.m. from the pet store staff. They alerted her of Magnolia’s removal from the adoption area.

The suspect reportedly asked a bank employee to hold the kitten before passing a note demanding cash. Police later confirmed they apprehended the man at the bank.

Magnolia remains available for adoption through Beltsville Community Cats. She is affectionate, playful, and thrives in homes with another young, lively cat. The rescue suggests she finds a loving home with someone recognizing her social and energetic nature.
