Robert Davi Leaves California Due to Crime and Political Issues

Renowned actor, singer, and filmmaker Robert Davi has always been vocal about his disagreements with California’s political landscape and Hollywood’s cultural direction. Despite his critical stance, he never envisioned leaving the Golden State.

Davi, age 75, has a history of portraying tough characters in films like “The Goonies” and “Die Hard,” along with playing a James Bond villain in “License to Kill.” Though he was born and raised in Queens, New York, he adopted Los Angeles as his home beginning in 1977. Moving west to foster his career, Davi embraced California’s relaxed lifestyle.

However, Davi has openly expressed concerns about what he perceives as a political blacklist in Hollywood, linked to his support for former President Donald Trump. Several factors prompted him to sell his home and relocate to Florida. January marks four years since he and his family moved to the Sunshine State.

The influx of homelessness across communities, political corruption, and mismanagement of funds in Los Angeles schools were contributing factors, according to Davi.

He highlighted the growing crime in Los Angeles, sharing how stores he once frequented now have heightened security measures due to rampant theft. Despite his affection for California’s climate and lifestyle, Davi hoped the situation would improve.

Yet, the December 1, 2021, home invasion and murder of Jacqueline Avant in Beverly Hills was the decisive moment. Avant was the wife of music executive Clarence Avant, and her tragic death profoundly impacted Davi. Within months, he and his family made the move to Florida.

Davi questioned how California and Hollywood evolved so left-wing. Recalling when Ronald Reagan ran for president, he noted that, unlike today, conservatives didn’t need to hide their beliefs then. He remembered when the Screen Actors Guild wasn’t afraid and how there was a fair balance between conservatives and liberals.
