A seaplane carrying eight people crashed into the East River near Manhattan. The aircraft, traveling from the Hamptons, went down on Sunday, according to officials. The New York Fire Department managed to save everyone on board.
The incident took place after a long holiday weekend. Among the passengers were a 75-year-old woman and her 16-year-old granddaughter. They had been enjoying their flight until the last moments when the plane unexpectedly crashed from the sky, leaving one wing submerged in the water.
The authorities confirmed that all passengers, along with the pilot and a crew member, were rescued. Ada Todd and her granddaughter, Khloe Todd, were on the plane, and Khloe recorded the crash on her cellphone. Ada expressed relief, saying, “I wanted her to have an experience, but this experience was very bad. Thank God we’re alive.”
Fortunately, none of the passengers suffered serious injuries. Although, Ms. Todd noted some physical discomfort, mentioning a headache and back pain.
The Federal Aviation Administration reported the aircraft made a hard landing. A wing strut, crucial for support, snapped during the incident. The FAA is currently investigating to determine the cause of the crash.
