The New York theater district is close to The Times’ office, extending north along Eighth Avenue from 41st Street to 54th Street, and east to Sixth Avenue. Walking past the numerous theaters that form Broadway’s ecosystem is exciting. The live theater industry shares a unique relationship with the newspaper business. Both are long-established activities that people continue to engage in daily, either on stage or through writing, right in the heart of New York City.
Michael Paulson, our theater reporter, covers Broadway extensively. He approaches it as if it were a small city or a unique belief system. This weekend, his focus will be on the 79th Annual Tony Awards, set to take place on Sunday night. The ceremony will broadcast on CBS at 8 p.m. Eastern and will also stream on Paramount+. We will be providing coverage of the event.
