At 92 years old, MacLaine expressed her wish to be present at the Southampton Playhouse in Long Island, ahead of their showing of her movie on August 25. She shared with the theater in an Instagram video, ‘I would like to see ‘Sweet Charity’ again. And while you’re watching it, remember how hard we worked.’

During the video, she reminisced about the film’s performance, stage whispering to the audience, ‘And between you and me, it didn’t do very well, so I hope you guys like it,’ before blowing a kiss. Fans showered her with adoration in the comments, expressing their admiration for her work and personality.

One fan commented, ‘Oh, Shirley. I love you. What an incredible human being,’ while another recalled their first encounter with her work on the big screen. A third humorously noted, ‘The greatest legs in showbiz!’

‘Sweet Charity,’ directed by the legendary Bob Fosse, was his first directorial effort.
