Spencer Pratt responded strongly to Governor Newsom’s endorsement of Mayor Karen Bass, describing the two as ‘alleged criminal partners.’ Kayleigh McEnany has commented on Bass’s controversial homelessness program in Los Angeles, highlighting reports that $418 million has resulted in only 10% of people being effectively moved off the streets. Pratt criticizes what he sees as corruption and abuse, particularly concerning the treatment of dogs on Skid Row, and emphasizes his faith-driven mission to make Los Angeles safer for mothers and children. Recent polls show his mayoral campaign gaining ground against Bass.
During an appearance on ‘Saturday in America,’ Pratt referred to Bass’s comments on resistance within the homelessness system. He suggested these comments support his belief that some individuals and organizations have profited from the ongoing crisis affecting the city. Bass recently blamed internal forces for resisting reform efforts during a CNN interview at the St. Vincent Behavioral Health Campus, a site proposed for mental health and housing services.
“The NGOs are stealing billions of tax money to increase drug addicts naked on our sidewalks. She’s complicit,” Pratt said about Bass. “So maybe that’s the only honest thing she’s ever said, admitting they’re all criminals.”
The controversy arose from Bass’s remarks about the resistance she encountered, which she said surprised her. She pointed out that historically, the city and county avoided commitments to ending street homelessness. Bass cited bureaucratic barriers as additional hurdles.
Pratt capitalized on these comments, claiming the current Los Angeles administration and its partners resist reforms because they benefit financially. “The mayor and these NGOs allow seven people to die on the sidewalk daily. They’re evil,” Pratt declared.
When approached for comment, Pratt promised more oversight of the homeless crisis if elected. “I will ensure full accountability and transparency for every tax dollar, not just in this homeless industrial complex scam,” he stated. His mayoral run began in January after gaining attention for comments following the Palisades Fire of 2025. The former reality star has increased his support through viral campaign ads and a strong debate performance.
Pratt has accused Karen Bass of violating election law by campaigning too close to a voting location. Under California law, this act is prohibited within 100 feet of a ballot box. Bass’s spokesperson, Alex Stack, countered, “Spencer is upset about having AI cartoon supporters while we have real Angelenos. We adhere to the rules.” Stack clarified that Pratt’s complaint was false, stating, “One video location was more than 200 feet from the ballot box, and the other had no signs.” Pratt’s attorney, Peter McNulty, has called for an investigation into Bass for “illegal electioneering,” citing the issue’s seriousness in complaints to the city and state.
