Stockard Channing Makes a Return to the Red Carpet

“Practical Magic” star Stockard Channing recently appeared on the red carpet for the first time in two years. She has been living a reclusive life in the United Kingdom. At 82, Channing attended the European premiere of “Practical Magic 2” at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square in London on August 26.

Earlier this year, Channing expressed her happiness in leading a reclusive lifestyle. This decision came after moving from the United States following the death of her longtime partner, Daniel Gillham.

I’ve lived alone since I lost Daniel and I’m happy being a recluse, Channing wrote in an essay for The Sunday Times.

For the event, Channing wore a fashionable blue suit with a white shirt and chain-link jewelry. She reprised her role as Aunt Franny in the eagerly awaited sequel. The next day, Channing was seen in a monochrome emerald green outfit for a photo call in London.

The “Practical Magic” sequel also features Nicole Kidman, Sandra Bullock, and Dianne Wiest. It was released 28 years after the original film.

Channing moved to London just before the COVID-19 pandemic, a change she had considered after Gillham, her partner of 25 years, passed away in 2014. She admitted his death was more impactful than she initially realized, saying there was a “lag effect.”

Describing her new routine, Channing starts her day at 7 a.m. with her dog waking her up. By 10 a.m., she takes on some exercise, though not every day. I know that exercising is the right thing to do but my brain tells me to go hide behind the bike sheds, she wrote.

Lunch serves as her first meal of the day, where she occasionally follows recipes, but if her attempts at ramen fail, the dish goes to her dog. When leaving her apartment, Channing quickly combs her hair but notes that her wardrobe consists of clothes from the Eighties and Nineties. She maintains a casual attitude toward fashion and beauty.
