Taysom Hill Bids Farewell to New Orleans Saints After Nine Seasons

Taysom Hill has officially decided to depart from New Orleans. After competing for nine seasons, the 35-year-old has announced that his time with the New Orleans Saints is over. Known for his versatility, Hill served as the team’s Swiss Army knife.

The quarterback shared his decision on Wednesday, expressing gratitude but confirming he won’t be returning to New Orleans. “I still don’t have a clear answer about what the future holds, but I know that returning to New Orleans is not in the cards,” Hill stated, appreciating the support the city offered since he joined in 2017.

The move marks the end of a unique journey for Hill. Initially cut by the Green Bay Packers, he rebuilt his NFL career with New Orleans by performing remarkably in multiple roles—quarterback, tight end, fullback, and wide receiver.

His diverse skills allowed him to amass over 1,000 yards in passing, rushing, and receiving, a feat unmatched by any other player in the Super Bowl era.

General Manager Mickey Loomis acknowledged Hill’s impact on the field, praising his “intelligence, unique athletic ability, versatility, and unselfishness,” and assured that the team will honor his contributions officially in the future.

With training camps underway, Hill is now a free agent. Despite a severe late-season injury, he may still find interest among playoff-contending teams requiring a versatile athlete.
