Democracy Dies in Darkness

In my youth, I often found myself distracted during dance class. Instead of focusing on the movements, I would chatter away. The teacher, noticing my lack of concentration, decided to place me under the piano. From this unique vantage point, I was limited to observing the dance through the various foot movements: sneakers and socks gliding across the floor, heels rising and falling with the accompanying melodies.
