CBS football analyst and former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was arrested Thursday night in Milwaukee. Officials suspect him of intoxicated driving. Romo, aged 46, was stopped on southbound Interstate 43 around 6:18 p.m. CDT. Authorities cited his poor performance on field sobriety tests, according to Milwaukee County Sheriff’s records.
He was booked for allegedly operating a vehicle while intoxicated and subsequently released. Romo is scheduled to appear in court on September 21. This date coincides with the Monday night of the NFL’s Week 2, when the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play against the AFC champion New England Patriots.
The arrest occurred a few hours after Romo concluded an interview with NBC affiliate WTMJ, as reported by the Milwaukee TV station. During his NFL career, Romo played parts of 13 seasons for the Dallas Cowboys. He later transitioned into a broadcasting role with CBS.
Romo is now a key member of the network’s premier NFL broadcast team. He collaborates with play-by-play announcer Jim Nantz and sideline reporter Tracy Wolfson. Romo called his third Super Bowl in 2024.
